Matt & Jill Bachtold opened GlobalTech, an electronics store located in Sabetha, in April. The business carries a full line of electronic devices and paraphernalia and offers computer repair services. GlobalTech is proud to be the only local source for many of the product lines they carry such as XM Radio, HDMI cables, surveillance systems, Cuisinart kitchen appliances, and geocaching supplies. Satellite television and cell phone services may be added soon.
Matt grew up helping his father in the family auto parts store and, later, in their Radio Shack. GlobalTech is only the latest in a long line of entrepreneurial ventures he’s been involved in. In fact, Matt started a school supply business out of his desk in the 5th grade and ran it successfully until the principal shut him down. Matt’s wife, Jill, also has an entrepreneurial bent, having started several small enterprises in recent years.
Despite the pair’s entrepreneurial experience, they sought out Enterprise Facilitation while contemplating their new venture. “Janet met with me initially to give me a good picture of how to proceed with a business plan,” said Matt. “She also reviewed and made suggestions for improving several draft versions of the plan before it was presented to the loan committee.”
Matt & Jill report that the community’s response to the business has been good so far. And, they hope that their offerings and customer service will keep customers coming back for more.
